Sports Development Officer
In March of this year Becky Weller was appointed Sports development officer for the trust. Becky's Role is to develop & maximise sporting opportunities at the site for the community regardless of age, gender, ability, ethnicity or economic statue….
“I am working closely with the 3 main clubs Cricket, Hockey & Netball to ensure the development of this facility gives them every opportunity to grow in strength from numbers to coaching quality.
I have already made contact with local schools forging links with existing clubs & looking to develop these links over the coming 18 months by providing taster sessions, tournaments & sports camps.
In August Hockey, netball & Cricket core skills camps will take place in partnership with Shepway council. As well as work with the schools, I am looking to strengthen the clubs numbers by providing sessions for teenagers & adults who have had or have a interest in one of the 3 main sports to attend & get involved in club life.”
Becky is also looking at ways to secure funding to develop new activities on site such as activities for women, girls, ethnic groups, disabled participants & Teenagers.
Now that the trust are taking bookings for September Becky has been working closely with local clubs & companies to secure bookings, one of these is pitch invasion which would be a permanent booking for a year, on one evening a week.
On July 31st 2011, CRSG will be home to the 2011 Royal British Legion Charity event Gurkha Regiment Vs the rest of Folkestone, this looks set to be an exciting day for all involved.
Every day a new opportunity or development is been looked into for the site, this is an exciting time watch this space for more sporting developments.........................
